"Wir danken dir, o treuer" (#193)

German text in the Gesangbuch:

1 Wir danken dir, o treuer Gott,

daß du uns hilfst aus Sündennoth,

vergibst uns alle Schuld und Fehl

und hilfest uns an Leib und Seel.

2 Durchs Priesters Mund sprichst du:  Mein Kind,

dir alle Sünd vergeben sind;

geh im Fried hin, sündge nicht mehr

und allweg dich zu mir bekehr.

3 Dir sei Dank für solch gnädig Herz,

der du selbst heilest allen Schmerz

durchs theure Blut des Herren Christ,

welchs für all Sünd vergossen ist.

4 Gib uns dein Gest, gib Fried und Freud

von nun an bis in Ewigkeit,

dein Wort und heilig Sacrament

erhalt bei uns bis an das End.

My prose translation:

1 We thank You, O faithful God,

That You help us out of the distress of sin,

Forgive us all guilt and mistakes,

And help us in body and soul.

2 Through the priest's mouth, You speak:  "My child,

"For you all sins are forgiven;

"Go in peace, sin no more,

"And always turn to Me."

3 To You be thanks for such a merciful heart,

You Who heal all pain Yourself

Through the precious blood of the Lord Christ,

Which is poured out for all sin.

4 Give us Your Spirit; give peace and joy

From now until eternity;

Your Word and Holy Sacrament

Preserve with us until the end.

The line "durchs theure Blut des Herren Christ" ("Through the precious blood of the Lord Christ") in the third verse seems to be drawn from 1 Peter 1:18-19:  "18 denn ihr wißt, daß ihr nicht mt vergänglichem Silber oder Gold erlöst seid von eurem nichtigen Wandel nach der Väter Weise, 19 sondern mit dem teuren Blut Christi als eines unschuldigen und unbefleckten Lammes" ("18 knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.").

As far as I can tell, this hymn isn't in The Lutheran Hymnal, Lutheran Worship, or The Lutheran Service Book.  According to the Gesangbuch, the text is sung to the tune "Erhalt uns, Herr, bei dein[em Wort]."  Here's an arrangement from TLH (transposed from E minor to A minor):
